I’m Aurra Sing: A Star Wars Story

Today I (Ethan Stranger) will be doing my 1st-ever Star Wars Blog post,

however, this one will be quite a challenge for I’ll be basing the post off of the most feared, dangerous, badass

(and dare I say beautiful) bounty hunter within the entire Star Wars Universe itself, Aurra Sing…

While several of you (including her voice Actress, Jaime King) might find it difficult to relate to such a dangerous/fictional

bounty hunter in the known galaxies of the Star Wars Universe,

I (Ethan Stranger) was able to find some things that can be relatable to her, especially to her own motivations and way of reacting

to certain situations, that we ourselves go through in our everyday struggles, but 1st a little History 101.

1st debuting as a small cameo in “The Phantom Menace” (watching the whole pod racing event), her history soon extends within the Star Wars Dark Horse Comics (where we learned that she was once a Jedi before becoming a dangerous bounty hunter that even Jedi themselves fear the most), here we see her in a lightsaber duel with Aayla Secura (Picture, Top Right Corner). However Aurra Sing’s popularity began to rise within the Clone Wars: Animated Series that aired back on Cartoon Network, 1st appearing in the season 1 finale (alongside Cad Bane & a few other ruthless bounty hunters) before reappearing in the final 3 episodes of season 2 (paired with Boba Fett & Bossk to kill Mace Windu) before reappearing in season 3 (where she was hired by Ziro the Hutt to assassin Senator Padme Amidala) and thus that was the last we saw of her (had the Clone Wars series continued as originally planned, we would’ve gotten this awesome episode that featured an all-star bounty hunter cast, including Aurra Sing herself, as well as “her death”, which was then mentioned in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, for the killer, was a smuggler, Tobias Beckett & all he did was push her, but the fall killed her). So the most feared, dangerous, badass bounty hunter was killed by a simple push by a random smuggler (what a pitiful way to go). Also check this unfinished clip of the episode I mention (featuring Cad Bane vs Boba Fett in a gunslinging duel match): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLwTkhVQj-g&ab_channel=KesselRunTransmissions

Speaking of Boba Fett, he played a major role in the 3 final episodes of season 2, masquerading as a clone cadet in an attempt to kill Jedi Master Mace Windu for the death of Boba’s father (Jango Fett), and who better to help him out on this sort of mission than Aurra Sing herself. She would eventually end up teaching young Boba Fett both the skills of the bounty hunter’s trade and the ruthlessness required, (especially when she abandoned Boba Fett when the Jedi (Plo Koon and Ahsoka Tano) caught up with them on Florrum, the young Fett would learn that a hunter was loyal only to the credits.

However, despite her ruthlessness, Aurra Sing was both a Mentor/(unlikely) Mother Figure to the young Boba Fett (like addressing him as “Honey” or stopping him from drinking alcohol in Hondo Ohnaka's bar, being all like “No, Boba”. Anybody else wished Aurra Sing (alongside Boba Fett & Bossk) could’ve remained a team throughout the Star Wars Universe (Boba & Bossk kinda did, but Aurra Sing is somewhat of a lone wolf unless there’s money involved).

Now then, let’s discuss what I find relatable about Aurra Sing (especially her relationship with young Boba Fett), her harshness on him, forcing him to leave behind or murder others as she was able to use his revenge against Mace Windu to get to her own objectives -  something that a lot of humans can do. Aurra Sing’s harsh methods (in general) sometimes reminded me of people in my life that I’ve encountered, whether it was teachers, coaches, students, etc, who (on occasions) would use methods that seemed harsh or too direct for me, in an attempt to help me, but sometimes I didn't understand their objective or just felt that their strategy was not working, making a situation even more difficult than before backfiring.

Aurra Sing’s harshness is what causes her to lose various fights when going up against Jedi (who are calmer & don’t let their rage consume them), plus Jedi have a good working relationship with others compared to Aurra Sing (who would either kill or abandon her own teammates). To be honest (in my opinion), I’m sure if Aurra Sing were a real person, would she or would she not make a good mentor for a bounty hunter or any other living thing.

I do hope either we get a Limited Comic Book Series exploring more on Aurra’s Sing Past or a Mini-Animated Series (that’ll show us how Tobias Beckett killed the most feared, dangerous, badass (and dare I say beautiful) bounty hunter within the entire Star Wars Universe itself) or at least a name mention in upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series “The Book of Boba Fett or the Ashoka Series). I, Ethan Stranger, have an idea for an Aurra Sing-related project (but that’s another story unless Jaime King wants to hear me out). So remember (that goes to Aurra Sing as well) never use harsh methods on others (especially if they don't understand them in the first place). There are other ways on how Aspergers/ADHD can get to where they need to be without harsh treatment,

Ethan Stranger Signs off (P.S. I wouldn’t mind having either a girlfriend or bodyguard like Aurra Sing, though I wonder if that tiny antenna of hers can give me good WI-Fi out in the cosmos)?
