All About Zam: A Star Wars Story
A Continuation from “I’m Aurra Sing: A Star Wars Story & Hopes & Dreams: The Story of Oola”, today I (Ethan Stranger) will be doing my 3rd Star Wars-related Blog post (centering around the Jango Fett’s Mysterious Flare, Zam Wesell). Zam Wesell may appear human, but she’s actually a shape-shifting alien (called a Clawdite within the Star Wars Universe), which makes me wanna picture her doing battle against the Star Trek Changeling, Odo (picture, Right).
To be honest, I (Ethan Stranger) don’t know a whole lot about the history of Zam Wesell (just mainly her brief appearance/swift demise in Attack of the Clones & from the video game: Star Wars: Bounty Hunters (which serves as a prequel to Attack of the Clones, including Jango & Zam meeting for the 1st time, check out this clip from the Bounty Hunters Video Game):
Fast forwards towards the end of the game & here’s Jango Fett & Count Dooku discussing about the creation of the Clone Army itself (with Jango wanting to keep one unmodified clone for himself ), thus we see Jango carrying Zam back to Slave I (discussing about splitting the reward 50/50, but tells not to push her luck)Sadly Jango had to kill Zam before she can reveal anything about the whole assassination attempt on Naboo Senator Padmé Amidala
Judging by these pics (that look like they happen before the events of Attack of the Clones) Zam develop a unique Friendship with Young Boba Fett (for she exchanged jokes & Zam encouraged Boba to continue reading, promoting the excitement that could be found from doing so, thus this made Boba see Zam as a maternal Figure), however Boba was saddened to hear when Jango was forced to kill Zam
Now that I think of it, I often view Jango Fett/Zam Wesell’s relationship to be quite similar to Marvel Comics Captain America/Diamondback’s (Picture, Left), only Cap was never forced to kill Diamondback, but he often had to draw somewhere in their relationship (something similar plays out within Jango & Zam relationship, as she was flirtatious around Jango, just like Diamond was with Cap, but the duo did work with together, thus formed more of a Partnership/Friendship)
(NOTE: you read more on Diamondback in my Diamondback in the Rough: The Rachel Leighton Story Post)
It wouldn’t be till around the Mandalorian/Book of Boba Fett Era that Boba himself founded his own partner (in the form of Fennec Shand), heck, both she & Zam Wesell share a lot in common (though Fennec Shand can’t shapeshift), both wear masks to cover their faces, skilled snipers & have mainly worked alongside those who donned Mandalorian armor (Picture, Upper Right Corner), not sure if Ming-Na Wen would agree?
An Interested What if the question is…”What if Jango Fett had (instead) rescued Zam Wesell & then (when Mace Windu Killed Jango Fett on Geonosis) Boba would’ve tried to seek out Zam Wesell (or the other way around, for she was alive & Boba had known her already & knew her a trusted ally to her father), but instead, it was another Bounty Hunter (that Jango Fett knew) that sought Boba Fett out (or was it the other way around) that Bounty Hunter was Aurra Sing (read more on her from my “I’m Aurra Sing: A Star Wars Story”), Aurra Sing had a different approach when she took on a Mothership/Mentor role on Young Boba, despite addressing him as "honey" and stopping him from drinking alcohol in Hondo Ohnaka's bar, she was ruthless, selfish & even abandoned Boba (Something that I don’t know if Zam would’ve done), had she been still alive (and raise Boba in a kinder way, what do you think)?
This image (Picture, Center Below), shows what both Jango Fett & Zam Wesell stayed together (past the Clone Wars), but like every relationship within today's society, it often ends in heartbreak (in this case, for both of them)
I (Ethan Stranger) find Zam Wesell even more relatable (besides her sporting my Favorite Color of Purple) is (since she’s a shape-shifter), I (as an Asperger Person) wish I had that ability, to help me blend in better with Society, I reckon that Zam kept that Human disguise (unless on missions) & Jango himself was willing to accept her (even in her true form), which is something that Today’s society needs to accept within the Asperger community, “better understand of who we are & never tell us we don’t have incredible skills (for we all do)”, Zam has an incredible skill & Jango was impressed. I wanna know if She would’ve gotten along with Aurra Sing (for she has skills too)
So until Zam Wesell & Aurra Sing get Spin-Off Series of their own (maybe something like a Bounty Hunter Dynamic Duo), Ethan Stranger Signs Off (Remember Ladies, Play the Game & your wish may come true, cue the music):
