Toph πŸ’š& Ty LeeπŸ’“: Sisters for Life

A Little Spin-off to my Legend of Korra: Power Bender post, I (Ethan Stranger) have decided to discuss a very friendship within the Avatar Universe (that was only seen in a Comic) that I myself find quite relatable within today’s society & to myself, that friendship is Toph & Ty Lee & I 1st read about it in the pages of 2015’s Dark Horse Avatar Comic: Sisters (here’s a little sneak peek)

So allow me (Ethan Stranger) to do a separate breakdown on these 2 beautiful girls from the Avatar Universe, how the duo represent something special within today's society & wrapping it all up on how the duo together represents something very relatable in today's society (not even sure if Toph & Ty Lee’s Voice actors (Michaela Murphy/Jessie Flower & Olivia Hack) were aware of this if not, that’s ok, but if they already know, allow me to put this all in my own words.

Let’s start with Ty Lee (because I think she’s adorable, especially when she’s standing upside down, on the tippy-points of her fingers; how she does that is a mystery that I highly doubt Circus People within Today's Society can even do that). When introduced to Ty Lee within Avatar: The Last Last Airbender, she was recruited by her longtime childhood friend, Azula (later joined up with Mai), whose goals ranged from Capturing Team Avatar, arresting Zuko & Uncle Iroh & then masquerading as Kyoshi Warriors to begin a secret invasion Ba Sing Se for the Fire Station before finally turning against Azula (as she began mentally breaking down) & later on officially joining the Kyoshi Warriors to help fix the world after the War. I find Ty Lee’s Friendship with Azula to be “pretty intoxicated”, as Azula was secretly manipulating Ty Lee into joining Forces with her (mostly due to her incredible skills in the art of Chi-Blocking) & when it came to choosing between Azula & Mai, Ty Lee was forced to choose, but she chose right (as Azula began mentally breaking down into madness/insanity & nobody wants that kind of friend). In today’s society, there are those who’ve been in some pretty intoxicated friendships (where someone would say they’re truly your friend, but really manipulate & that’s not how true friendship works), these kinds of friendships can end in heartbreak, but remember (life allows us to explore the possibility of making new friends, which is difficult (sometimes).

And may I say that Ty Lee’s little crush on Sokka (Picture, Right) reminds me of Black Cat/Spider-Man’s relationship from Marvel Comics (Picture, Left), as Ty Lee was kinda like Sokka’s Black Cat (as Suki was Mary Jane & Yue was Gwen Stacy), crushes like that happen all the time within today's society (on rare occasions even to me, Ethan Stranger),  Olivia Hack should check out my Just a Stray Black Cat: The Felicia Hardy Story"  blog post.

Another aspect that I find Relatable about Ty Lee is that always complains about “always wanting to be our own person, but finds herself always looking the same or doing the same things (either with the Kyoshi Warriors or being with her identical Sisters, Picture Left Bottom Corner)”.  Now that is truly something I can definitely relate to (mainly more with myself), as I too have been in similar situations where I’m always so tired of doing the same thing or trying to resemble the same (like everybody else), but this was like all back in my school years, but even outside of school, I always attend to find myself in living within someone else's Shadow & must learn to be my own person (which is something that’s been bugging Ty Lee a lot), if Ty Lee were real, I wonder how she would’ve done with my friends from my HS Dance Team (Picture, Right Bottom Corner), sure they may dress the same, dance the same, but as I knew each of them separately, they each had their own persona & tried to stand out as their own unique personality, which is something Ty Lee should consider looking in too  (either she’s with her identical Sisters or the Kyoshi Warriors), just remember, you must always try to stand out in the crowd, no matter what.

And Now Let’s get onto Toph, obviously, she’s so relatable within the Blind Community (Could Michaela Murphy/Jessie Flower picture the Blind bandit/The Runaway teaming up with Daredevil or Geordi La Forge), the point being is that (despite being blind), Toph is still able to Earthbound (and later invent Metalbending & improve with her Sandbending), plus she’s a tomboy (always doing more Boy-related things). She’s not looking for nobody approval nor wastes time in trying to look beautiful & that goes to show that it’s ok to be yourself (either if you’re blind on the Spectrum like me, Ethan Stranger

Other relatable aspects about Toph include her having to put up with overprotective parents (seeing that their daughter is blind & helpless), but Toph proved them both wrong was they impressed no they weren’t (which is something a lot of People on the Spectrum go through, they try to accomplish greatness, only for it to be shot down or neurotypical are just laughing at you).

Plus it’s not forgotten about Toph’s Rocky Relationship with Team Avatar (at 1st), though she bonded with Sokka very quick, her butting heads with Katara (due to her motherly persona) took a bit longer to overcome, but (in the end) all became friends for life (ain’t that right, Garfield)?

From learning the value of Friendship through different perspectives (with Toph being with Team Avatar & Ty Lee joining with Azula & Mai) I felt like reading their friendship within the page of the 2015s Avatar Comic, Sisters (despite being so short) made me wanna see these 2 interact more, as they went through a lot (as enemies at 1st & even before they met each other). With the opening of Avatar Studios, I do hope to see Sisters Comic come to life (Plus I have a few Avatar-related ideas for the Studio, but that’s another story)

Ethan Stranger Signs Off…but wants to know the opinions of Michaela Murphy/Jessie Flower & Olivia Hack on seeing a fictional version of my Dog, Chewie reenacting the spaghetti scene (From Disney’s Lady & the Tramp) with Avatar Korra’s Polar Bear Dog (Naga) that my cousin drew up, How will this outcome end, I might have a theory, Watch This: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGDD9sjVKLA)

You 2 can feel free to read more on Avatar Korra in my Legend of Korra: Power Bender Post
