America Chavez: Star-Power 🌟

Today I (Ethan Stranger) will be discussing a particular Star-Spangled Kid (and no, I’m referring to DC’s Stargirl (Picture, Bottom Right Corner), this is another patriotic teenage superheroine: America Chavez, who finally debuted in the MCU within Dr. Strange: in the Multiverse of Madness, so today, I’ll be discussing what makes America Chavez relatable within today’s society (Especially since her debut within Dr. Strange: in the Multiverse of Madness caused several Persian Gulf countries to ban the film, due to America Chavez being lesbian in the comics), but that don’t mean she ain’t afraid to take a stand.

To be honest, I really don’t know a whole lot about America Chavez (even though she appeared all the way back in September of 2011, 2 years later she’d joined the ranks of the Young Avengers), I 1st witness America Chavez on the Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors limited series (Picture: Bottom left Corner) and gotta say, she’s hot (like a patriotic teenage Avatar Korra, Picture: Bottom Right Corner), Xochitl Gomez should check out my “Legend of Korra: Power Bender” post (besides both America Chavez and Avatar Korra are lesbians, though, in Korra’s case, it took a while for her to express her feelings for Asami, as America Chavez was born lesbian, she was raised by 2 mothers in the comics).

Now that we've gotten that little piece of info out of the way, it’s to discuss her live-action debut in the MCU (fun fact was that she was supposed to make her debut in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, but because of the COVID Pandemic, she was written out and her appearance was moved to the Dr. Strange sequel), to be honest, her appearance in No Way Home would’ve made more sense, with her bringing in the other Spider-Men into the MCU Universe instead of Ned Leeds (who had quickly mastered a sling ring while it took Dr. Strange a little longer, I mean it makes no sense to further develop that following the events of No Way Home, as Ned Leeds is now on the path of becoming the villain known as Hobgoblin).

Back to the topic at hand, The MCU America Chavez is very relatable, throughout Multiverse of Madness, we witness her deal with her attempting better to understand her powers and some trust issues amongst the variants of Dr. Strange’s she encounters (from Defender Strange to the MCU Dr. Strange). The one thing I didn’t like from the MCU America Chavez is her origin, where in the comics, her MOMS sacrifice their lives to save her while in the MUC, her parents are accidentally teleported away when America Chavez’s portal powers were activated when she came into contact with a bee (she was so young) and she herself was also getting sucked into the portal and spend her entire life traveling the multiverse (which is a fun experience, despite losing both her MOMS, nobody, in our messed-up flawed universe, has even that kind of power or technology to do so). My guess for why they didn’t follow more of  America Chavez’s comics origin was to give the MCU’s America Chavez a munch happy reunion with the MOMS in the MCU future (before such events like “The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars” comes forth.

(You can learn more about America Chavez’s comic origins in this video link)

Despite Multiverse of Madness’s confusion over its screenplay, at least they introduce a key player for the future of the MCU, which involves the multiverse (who doesn’t want to see  America Chavez vs Kang the Conqueror)?

However, perhaps the biggest battle that America Chavez faces (whether it’s in the comics or as a fictional live-action character) is her place being an LGBTQ+ character (as she’s lesbian and was raised by her MOMS), because (as mentioned before) several Persian Gulf countries have banned the film over its brief scene of  America Chavez’s MOMS, thus it’s time for this Star-Spangled Kid to Unleash the Star-Power 🌟

To be honest, I don’t understand why and what these countries have against LGBTQ+ representation (do they think it’s a curse, or have they just not adapted to the relationship changes within today's society all over the world), this also makes me wonder on how Persian Gulf countries handle neurodivergent people (such as myself)?

America Chavez is highly regarded as Marvel's first Latin-American LGBTQ+ character to star in an ongoing series (I have a Peruvian uncle from Lima who’s gay and yet, his own father refuses to accept him), though happens to a lot of people within the LGBTQ+ community, it’s all about being accepted by either loved ones or society itself and that’s something struggle with, luckily there are people like actress Kausar Mohammed (Picture: Bottom Center), who’s been active in striving to gain visibility for LGBT+ Muslims (in the past, I had a cousin who started off as lesbian before becoming a transgender, though it was difficult for everybody in my family to accept her at first, thus I recommend Eilot Page and Nicole Maines (Pictures: Bottom Left and Right Corners) as perfect role models for her, just as America Chavez is an excellent role model for both Latinos and Lesbians.

(Also there’s this Netflix Series, “Dead End: Paranormal Park”, Picture: Bottom Center, it shows an Iranian-American Muslim girl and a Pakistani-American girl, both of whom have a crush on each other (which shows great support for the LGBT+ Muslim community), I recommend this series

And now, how about an epic grrrl power brawl against these patriotic girls (who will win, as there can be only one winner, cue music)

While I’m sure that soon we’ll see more of America Chavez within the future of the MCU, kinda wish (if she were real), that she fell into the universe that is home to me (Ethan Stranger), for I myself would like her to help to better explore the Multiverse (maybe even find a universe where my still Grandpa’s alive, Xochitl Gomez can read more info about that in my “Worlds Greatest Grandpa” post)

Plus in my universe, Spider-Man is kind of a big deal (surprisingly even in Denton, TX, Picture: Bottom Left Corner

So until America Chavez plummets into our universe (or if she defeats DC’s Stargirl on SNL),

Ethan Stranger Signs off

Special Shoutout Thanks to my Cousin (B.Ryan) for suggesting I do this kind of post
