Marvel’s What if…Special (Spider-Man) Edition II

You thought the story was over…but it was only the beginning (you gotta check out my 1st Marvel’s What If...Special (Spider-Man) Edition Post to get caught up), as I (Ethan Stranger) prepare for the release of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”, I’ve decided to do another Marvel’s What if…Special (Spider-Man) Edition same as before, especially following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where now both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garifeld’s Spider-Man’s have entered the MCU and could appear again in “2026’s Avengers: Secret Wars”, but who knows if those 2 would reprise as there “original/respective”, or should Marvel and Sony take the opportunity to have both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garifeld variant version of there Spider-Man’s, but to do that, let's explore the the Spider-Verse (because who knows if these Spider-Variants will appear in the upcoming “Across the Spider-Verse or in Beyond the Spider-Verse”), so let's go down the Spider-list, shall we?   

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Verse What if’s…

1. Adopted by J. Jonah Jameson: Taking inspiration from this What if…tale (Picture: Bottom Center), it shows what would’ve happened had the burglar killed both Uncle Ben and Aunt May, then J.Jonah Jameson ends up adapting Peter Parker (after his own son, John Jonah Jameson dies too). Peter parker’s Origins on becoming Spider-Man remain the same, only for Jameson to hire Oscorp in inventing the Spider-Slayers to battle Spidey himself, only for Jameson learn that Spider-Man is his adopted son, soon Jameson suits up in a Spider-Slayer suit and aids Spidey in shutting down Oscorp and their Spider-Slayers for good and decide to fight crime together (as father and Son, Pictures: Bottom Left and Right Corners).       

2. Multi-Arm Spider-Man: Since Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man can fire organic webs from his arms, you often wonder why he hasn’t yet mutated into Man-Spider (Picture: Bottom Right Corner) or grew more arms (Picture: Bottom Left Corner), thoughTobey Maguire’s Spider-Man was close to using Web-Shooters. While Organic Webbing is gross, Spidey creating Web-Shooters shows of how much of inventor Peter Parker is (which is why the MCU had Iron man serve as a Mentor/Father Figure to their Spider-Man)

So what could’ve happened to an alternate Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man had he further mutated, grown six arms or mutated into a Man-Spider, pretty sure everybody is gonna make a joke out of this…

3. Marvel Team-up: Spider-Man and the Mighty Thor: Before directing his Spider-Man Trilogy, Sam Raimi teamed-up with Stan Lee in the 1990s in pitching a Thor Movie to Fox that sadly never got made, however, had it got made and while doing his Spider-Man Trilogy, could there have been a way for Fox and Sony to allow Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man to team-up with a Sam Raimi-Styled Thor and what sort adventures/villains would the do face together (beside maybe battling Electro, which actor would’ve been good to cast as The Mighty Thor within Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy & is Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man worthy of lifting Mjölnir)?

4. Spider-Man: Monster Bash: An alternate Spider-Man universe where things are bit more of Sam Raimi-styled Horror, while taking inspiration from some Spider-Man Comic Mythos, where the Venom Symbiote is actually an earthbound scientific creation by Oscorp that later attaches itself to Spider-Man before morphing into Venom, J.Jonah Jameson’s Son (John Jameson) transforms into Man-Wolf, Both Norman and Harry Osborn mutate into Goblin-looking Monsters, Otto Octavius mutates into “The Squid” (who’s an entirely different villain within Marvel Comics), Dylan Baker’s Curt Connors mutates into the Lizard and there might be a Dr. Strange that would later aid Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man in a Monster-infested New York City (though which Actor would’ve been perfect as Dr. Strange to cast within Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy)?  

NOTE: I’m quite surprised how during the events of No Way Home, both Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Doc Ock were a little bit or not so-much shocked that there’s a Curt Connors Variant that mutates into a humanoid Lizard (while their Curt Connors is still human).

5. Spider-Man & Sandman: Heroes for Hire: In this Alternate Universe, Spider-Man joins forces with Sandman (Picture: Bottom Left Corner) in order to clear his name, but then Spider-Man is framed by the Robot-Master (Mendel Stromm, Picture: Bottom Center) who wants revenge on the Osborn family for leaving him dead, now back as a cyborg, he creates a Spider-Man Robot to (literally) beat the crap out of Harry Osborn and then takes control of Oscorp while also unleashing his army of Robots and Spider-Slayers throughout New York, that is until Spider-man and Sandman join forces to defeat the Robot-Master, clear their names and become “Heroes for Hire”, Plus Joe Manganiello’s Flash Thompson becomes Agent Venom (Picture: Bottom Right Corner) in this universe, who later joined the so-called “Heroes for Hire” before going solo  

Marc Webb’s Spider-Verse What if’s…

1. Celebrity Spider-Man: An Alternate universe where Andrew Garifeld’s Spider-Man prevents the death of his Uncle Ben and then decides to still do crime-fighting, but treats it as a joke (even maybe getting his own reality show), this what if..tale can take inspiration from this comic’s tale:

I”ll never forget comparing Andrew Garifeld’s Spider-Man as if he took comedy lesson from Adam Sandler and this alternate version of Spide-rMan can expand on him “battling crime while still goofing off

2. Spidey’s Parents alive: Impinge what would’ve happened had Peter Parker’s Parents (Picture: bottom Left Corner) were revealed to be alive and well, while in the comics they were SHIELD agents, perhaps in an alternate  Andrew Garifeld’s Spider-Man universe, they worked for some shady government organization and now with having reunited with their son and learn that he’s Spider-Man, what sort of situation would Peter Parker be force to deal with, with his parents fugitives?     

3. Felicity Jones’s Black Cat: Had the Amazing Spider-Man 3 been made, we would’ve seen Felicity Jones suit up as the Black Cat and maybe have both Andrew Garifeld’s Spider-Man and Felicity Jones’s Black Cat reenact this scene from the Spectacular Spider-Man Cartoon Series (also read my “Just a Stray Black Cat: The Felicia Hardy Story Post” to read more on my favorite incarnations of Marvel’s Black Cat)

4. Gwen Stacy’s Osborn Affair: Taking Inspiration from the infamous Sins Past storyline, imagine (in alternate universe, during the events of 2012s Amazing Spider-Man and 2014s Amazing Spider-Man 2), it’s revealed that Gwen Stacy had been having sex with Harry Osborn (instead of Norman from the original storyline), though things play out similar within Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Harry Osborn becomes Green Goblin but is defeated and Gwen Stacy dies), but later on, an older Andrew Garifeld Spider-Man is confronted by Gabriel Osborn who takes on the mantle of The Grey Goblin (Picture: Bottom Right Corner), blaming him for the death of his mother, Gwen Stacy, Spidey later teams-up with Sarah Osborn, who works for Interpol and knowns the truth about her mother (Gwen Stacy’s) death and aids Spidey in taking down her brother, and later and older/crazier Green Goblin Harry Osborn, who dies…

MCU Spider-Man What if’s… 

1. Spider-Man and Captain America (Captain America: Civil War): Imagine this alternate MCU universe to feature Captain America and Falcon recruiting Spdier-Man to join their team during the Civil War event, where Iron Man and General Ross assemble the Thunderbolts and Ant-man (Scott Lang) remain neutral during the entire Civil War event. Plus Spidey’s Homemade costume resembles his suit from the animated Avengers:EMH cartoon Series before upgraded it to resemble his final suit from the ending of No Way Home (having being inspired by Cap Himself too).

2. Spider-Man kills Vulture (Spider-Man: Homecoming): Imagine this alternate MCU universe to feature “Spider-Man killing the Vulture” (by that I mean he failed to save Adrain Toomes when his wing-suit exploded, not actually kill him). Following this, Tony Stark must do whatever it takes to clear Peter’s name and even comes up with the idea of having Peter don 4 different identities (Hornet, Prodigy, Dusk and Ricochet) until Tony can clear Spider-Man’s name for good.

3. Spider-Man Team-up (Ant-Man and the Wasp): Taking inspiration from this Tales to Astonish comic (Picture: Bottom Left Corner) this alternate MCU universe could feature Spider-Man team-up with Ant-Man and the Wasp during the events of 2018s Ant-man and the Wasp (that happen a bit earlier than within the main MCU timeline) and it all started after Aunt May learn the truth about Peter Parker being

After that, Aunt May And Peter Parker go on a Road trip to San Francisco to straighten things out, only for Peter Parker to suit up as Spider-Man as he’s draw into a conflict with Ant-man and the Wasp, as they battle Egghead (Elihas Starr, Picture: Bottom Center), alongside a more comic accurate version of Ghost (serving as Egghead’s bodyguard) and has employed Sonny Burch to steal Hank Pym’s Tech. The allies receive aid from Egghead’s niece, Patricia ``Trish" Starr (from the comics) and managed to defeat the bad guys and rescue Janet Van Dyne from years in being trapped in the Quantum Realm, as a reward, Hank Pym and Bill Foster create an Ant-Man/Spider-Man hybrid Suit (Picture: Bottom Right Corner) for Peter Parker

(Remember when Spidey used that scene in “Empire Strikes Back” to defeat Giant-Man), wonder why nobody in 2018s Ant-man and the Wasp mentioned that Scott Lang (as Giant-man) got defeated by a puny Spider-Man (maybe it would’ve hurt Scott’s feelings or something)... 

4. Spider-Man and Daredevil: Agents of SHIELD (Spider-Man: Far From Home): Imagine this alternate MCU universe to feature Matt Murdock as an agent of SHIELD, with Daredevil being his codename (like in this What if…Comic, Picture: Bottom Left Corner), while also serving as Nick Fury’s personal/private Lawyer. Taking place during the events of 2019s Spider-Man: Far from Home, the (Real) Nick Fury tasked Matt Murdock to look after Spider-Man as Nick Fury wants to expose the so-called Mysterio (plus elements from the Guardian Devil Storyline can be included within this alternate MCU universe, Picture: Bottom Right Corner). Thus, with Mysterio revealed as a fraud and locked away, Spider-Man is lucky enough not to have his identity expose to the world and continues to work with SHIELD (alongside Fury and Matt Murdock)   

5. Spider-Man vs Baron Mordo (Spider-Man: No Way Home): Taking some inspiration from the “Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2 comic”,  imagine  what would’ve happened had Baron Mordo appeared in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, where he manipulates the wall-crawler into receiving some mystic artifacts  from the Sanctum Sanctorum in order to cast the memory wiping spell,(even granting him the black and gold mystic Spider-Suit), but Spidey is quickly warned by Dr. Strange that Baron Mordo attempts to actually make the world forget Stephen Strange and attempts to alter reality where he’s the sorcerer supreme, only to open a portal to the dark dimension (instead of bringing multiple time displaced Spidey Villains from alternate universes). Spider-Man is then confronted by Dormammu and even “bargains” with him, in helping defeat Bordo Mordo and having everyone forget Peter Parker is Spider-man, but at the cost of Spidey joining Dormammu in the dark dimension  in order to repent for his actions by nearly crumbling his universe, but it’s not long before Ned, MJ Aunt May & Happy Hogan try to convince Dr. Strange and Wong to open a portal to the dark dimension, in the hopes of rescuing Peter Parker.      

6. Asa Butterfield’s Spider-Man: Long before Tom Holland was announced as the MCU’s Spider-Man, was I the only one who thought that through Asa Butterfield would’ve been a perfect choice for Spider-Man, I mean he gots the looks and style (picture: Bottom Left Corner), What did Tom Holland had that Asa Butterfield didn’t when auditioning for Spider-Man, though for either “Beyond the Spider-Verse or Avengers: Secret Wars”, Would Asa Butterfield be perfect as “Billy Braddock/Spider-UK (Picture: Bottom Right Corner)?   

Oh man, what a post, but with the Multiverse opening up soon with “Across the Spider-Verse” and soon “Beyond the Spider-Verse”, it has everybody wondering if either Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield or Tom Holland return as the same or a variant version of their respective Spider-Man (plus I don’t even know if any of these variants that I’ve listed will appear in those 2 films, though you’ll hardly see me (Ethan Stranger) take on the mantle of Spider-man before taking on the title of Sorcerer Supreme
